When Kids Get Quiet....

red marker "chickenpox", originally uploaded by msbellee.

Well, this is what happens when they get quiet! And he had fun doing it to himself, or so he says.

I don't know why, but Kevin gave himself 'chickenpox' with a red Sharpie! ALL OVER, from head to toe, he has red dots. He even practiced writing his letters on one leg!

He practiced writing his letters too

He did it all over himself...

It won't wash off

He gave himself 'chickenpox'

He did all this while I was on the computer editing pictures for Etsy. By the time I realized he had been quiet for a while it was too late. He told me he went behind the recliner to do it. I didn't catch him in the act. I was so engrossed in what I was doing that I didn't even miss him. But then he came out and showed me! I couldn't get mad. It was too funny!

He said he wanted to give himself chickenpox. I don't know if he saw it on Clifford or one of the other shows he watches, but something put the idea in his head. The bad thing is that it's not washing off very well. Other than that, when I look at him I just smile! I told him that he might have to live like this for a while until it wore off. He just looked at me and said, "It was fun Mommy. I don't care if it doesn't come off." So then I asked him what would happen if it never came off? He just shrugged his shoulders like he didn't care!

Oh, well. I don't know if he learned a lesson or not, but I did. When kids get quiet, they're up to something! And I hid the markers just in case.

Hello, all this looks funny... but really it´s a great true: when kids are too quiet it´s very suspicius, most of the times they are doing something that at last mum will have to clean, I know it well! fortunately my daughter is already grown up.

Oh my goodness! and with a Sharpie marker too. Usually this sort of thing happens right before a doctor appointment, school pictures, or church.

Yep! When kids are quite, you know something is going on. I've never had this one happen, but I've had my kids show up with new hair cuts, that they gave to themselves. LOL I guess he's finding his artistic side. Here's a link that gives advice on removing marker....hope it helps. http://babyparenting.about.com/cs/toddlers/qt/markers.htm.

Oh and also read that Huggies Shea Butter diaper wipes work like magic.

Good luck on getting it all off. :o)

Oh my! mom, you have your hands full! (beyond laughing out loud)!!!! I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing with you!!! My three never gave them selves chicken pox but have cut their hair... 'sharpied' their finger nails...and more! Just one more memory to savor my dear!!! I remember I used 'Seabreeze' when one did something like that, it helped get it off abit but not totally. Oh, give him a hug for me... this is just too cute!

Ah, the dreaded quiet! I know it well. You're in even more trouble when two of them get quiet!

He's cute with his chickenpox. :-)

Well, he did a very convincing job. When I saw the first picture, I thought it was poison oak or some such. (Then I saw the letters... hehe).

As always, Ginger, your response to this incident, your ability to laugh instead of getting angry, inspires me to take life less seriously.

Oh my GOSH!! That is too funny - that wins the award for the most Sharpie drawn on a kid ever! (The trophy is a big fat washcloth!)

I want to thank each and every one of you for visiting and commenting! :D
This FINALLY wore off! He still has a touch of it on his upper thigh but most of the rest of it is gone.
I know I will have many more 'experiences' to come!

Katie, people definitely looked! And to some he would go ahead and say "I gave myself chickenpox!" What a hoot!
